SEO - This is the most logic way to generate your website traffic for free. I talk about SEO in much deeper sense on other post. Please search on this blog.
Press releases - Every time you add new products, offer new services, or acquiring new partner, you must consider doing press releases. Make it newsworthy. With press releases you will get credibility from the media, such as PRweb and PRnewswire, rather than looking like an advertiser who simply paid for exposure.
Tell-a-friend-script - Encourage people to forward your website to their friends and family. Putting a tell-a-friend script on your pages, if done correctly, will increase your web traffic significantly. You should consider these 2 things when encouraging people to tell their friends and family:
- What’s in it for them? Why should they forward your website’s address? Consider doing a door prize for telling your site. People love competition. Or give the prize to a person who refers the most visits from their friends or family. People will more likely to spread the word because they know they more they tell, the bigger chance to get your prize
- High quality content – your website should be newsworthy
Blog reviews - Leave a solid feedback or comment on experts blogs in your industry. Do not leave comment or feedback simply hoping for traffic. You will look bad in front of your target market.
Articles - Submit only to few very selected article directories. Always try to find a spesific directory about your niche. This will drive a more targeted traffic to your website.
Email signature – Does not hurt to add signature on every email you send out.
Reciprocal linking - Find similar and non competing websites in your niche to exchange links. Think about what other products your target market buy. Visit the websites and do partnership with them. Or, if you own a content website, find experts websites in your niche and ask them to be your link partners.
Public speaking - Locate your target market and do a public speaking showing your expertise the field that you’re in. Do a seminar in local community centers and give out your business cards with your website information on it.
Forum posts - Get involved in big forums in your niche. Some forums can easily get thousands of visits a day. If your signature is seen hundreds of times a day, it would bring significant traffic to your site.
Free viral report – Write a report and encourage people to pass it forward to other people. Remember “what’s in it for them” question and content quality.
Free viral video - Post a video on youtube or google video. Show your website’s url on the video.
Free viral audio - Record your teleseminar or interview with industry expert.
